Welcome to Hedgehogs Class
Hedgehogs class is taught by Miss Cranness, Mrs Westwood & Ms Austin.
Children in Hedgehogs Class are supported by Mrs Northrop, Ms Frost, Mrs Wybrew and Mrs Strange.
In Reception, children are given time to play and learn independently. There are planned, purposeful activities and the children can choose which area of the inside or outside classroom they would like to work in. This is alongside adult directed tasks where the teacher and TA work with a smaller group of children.
We have daily phonics sessions to help develop our reading and writing and daily maths to develop our number skills. We are very lucky to have an amazing forest and nature area that we use regularly for our learning.
We learn through a variety of fortnightly themes based around the children's interests, for example ‘Machines', ‘Woodland’, ‘Whizz Pop Bang', ‘Castle &Dragons', ’Roots & Shoots' and ‘Under and over the Sea’. Our topics encompass all areas of learning and we provide fun and rich learning experiences throughout.
This summer term, we are learning about growing plants and insects and minibeasts. Have a look at our summer term currriuclum overview below for more detail:
Here is our Summer Term Daily Timetable. PE lessons take part on Wednesday afternoons and PE kits stay on children's pegs for the duration of the half term. Library books are changed on a Friday.
Parents, have a look at class Dojo for all our latest class news and updates, including a weekly roundup. Observations of children's learning are uploaded to their online learning journal on an app called Tapestry and parents are encouraged to view, comment and add to this.
Remember to bring the following items to school each day:
* water bottle
* reading book and reading record in your book bag
* coat or waterproof jacket if necessary
