  The Friends of Swaffham Prior School (FoSPS) is an active group built up over several years by parents with a keen interest in the school providing the best education it can for all children. Half termly meetings allow school information and successes to be shared, as well as plan out forth coming fund raising and social events. FoSPS representatives also act as a channel to bring back ideas or queries to the Head teacher and act as a body to consider new ideas for the school.
The group acts as a support group for school functions and as a very efficient fund-raising unit to enhance school resources. Recent purchases include the climbing wall, activity centre, and four computers. FoSPS always has specific fund raising initiatives as well as ongoing funding of items such as water bottles and book bags for all children.
Events are organised not only for fund-raising purposes but also as social occasions; these are an important element for strengthening the sense of community in our school. Our termly grounds' days may have a particular focus such as rebarking a play area or planting a new garden area, or just giving time to for a general tidy. They always serve to improve the children's environment.
 Each class has a nominated FoSPS member attached to it, to rally support or offer help if needed. Some events have become institutionalized and are looked forward to with great anticipation each year because they are such fun, such as The Pumpkin Parade, Summer Fair and Easter Egg Bingo. Off shoots of FoSPS include the 100 club, which raises money for school trips and the second hand uniform stall.
FoSPS meetings are held each half term and are open to all parents. The Annual General Meeting is the second FoSPS meeting of the new school year, when office bearers are elected. All parents are made welcome and we hope new parents are rapidly made to feel a part of our school community.
All parents are automatically members of FoSPS and are encouraged to attend the meetings. The current committee and class representatives for the 2008/2009 school year are as follows:
